Review: Maximize 365: A Year of Actionable Tips to Transform Your Life by Kristin Sherry

We received an advance copy of Kristin Sherry’s most recent book, Maximize 365: A Year of Actionable Tips to Transform Your Life, to read and review. I tried to dive into it the typical way one would go about reading a book: start at the beginning and make your way through to the very end. It may take a few days or weeks. You make some notes, dog-ear some pages, but you go page by page until you read the final page.
This is not that kind of book. This is the kind of book where you can, and should, skip around. Each page is a prompt—an opportunity to examine and contemplate a theme or sub-theme. There are five main sections with multiple subheadings. Covering Health and Wellness, Spirituality, Relationships, Career, and Finances. Sherry is a business coach and author who compiled these tips into daily action steps. In the Introduction, she encourages readers to “access content where you have the greatest need or interest.” So that’s what I did.
After realizing I couldn’t just sit down and read this cover to cover, I incorporated pages into my daily meditation and journal practice each morning. I would do my Yoga practice, sit in meditation, then open the book to a page with content I was drawn to, and after reading the Quote and content, I would commit some time to journal on the prompts at the bottom of the page (when included). Sometimes, I would read several pages at once. Other times I would contemplate one for several days.
While this book does not have solutions or answers, it will guide you towards your goals, almost like a workbook. It provides the questions for you to come up with the answers. Often, they are questions you didn’t think to ask yourself. One page that made me pause focused on Career Success and working to align my accomplishments with the feeling of satisfaction. I had never thought about success like this. What came out of me, and my journal was eye-opening.
I recommend this book:
· For those looking to gain mental clarity about their own life.
· Those who journal or want to cultivate a regular journaling habit.
· For anyone interested and intrigued by how their brain makes sense of things and wants to investigate their inner wiring on various topics.
This book is ideally not a quick read. It should take you a year or so (hence, Maximize 365) and is available for preorder here. It will be on sale beginning February 18, 2021 (the perfect late Valentine’s Day Gift, don’t you think?)
